2nd – 7th – Australia vs New Zealand 3rd Test
3rd – 7th – South Africa vs England 2nd Test
4th – 12th – BDO World Championship Darts
The BDO Darts starts life at the Indigo at the O2 in London after over 30 years at Lakeside. Glenn Durrant made it three wins in a row in the competition last year in the men’s event but will not be around to defend his title after switching to the PDC.
4th – FA Cup third round weekend
It’s one of the highlights of the annual English football calendar. Several lower league sides will be dreaming of pulling off a shock by knocking out Premier League opposition. Arsenal take on Leeds, Rochdale host Newcastle, and Gillingham play West Ham in the stand-out ties from third round weekend.

7/8th – EFL Cup semi-finals first legs
Man City will be looking to move one step closer to retaining their EFL Cup crown as they travel to cross-city rivals Man Utd in the first leg of the semi-finals. It’s an all-Midlands affair in the other semi as Leicester City host Aston Villa.
12th – 19th: Masters Snooker
Alexandra Palace is the host venue for the first Triple Crown event of the calendar year. Judd Trump was the champion in 2019, his first appearance in a Masters final. Seven-time winner Ronnie O’Sullivan is absent from this year’s tournament.

14th – 19th: India vs Australia ODI Series
16th – 20th: South Africa vs England 3rd Test
18th – Clarence House Chase, Ascot
20th – Australian Open
The year’s first Grand Slam gets underway in Melbourne. Novak Djokovic will be looking to retain his title in the Men’s Singles and claim an eighth Australian Open title in the process. 2018 Women’s Singles champion Naomi Osaka will be looking to bounce back from a poor second half of 2019 with another victory Down Under.
24th – 28th: Cricket – South Africa vs England 4th Test
24th – 2nd February: Cricket – New Zealand vs India T20 Series
25th – Football – FA Cup fourth round weekend
25th – 26th: NHL All-Star Game
The NHL all-stats heads to St Louis for the first time since 1988. Connor McDavid captains the Pacific Division for a fourth straight year.
26th: – NFL 2020 Pro Bowl
Orlando plays host to this year’s NFL Pro Bowl. The Baltimore Ravens have tied an NFL record, providing 12 players for this year’s game.

28/29th – EFL Cup semi-finals second leg
Man City and Aston Villa have home advantage as they host Man Utd and Leicester City respectively for the right to reach this year’s final at Wembley.
