Sports fans can tuck into a festive feast of sport this December, with football, cricket, darts and horse racing just helping round off another bumper year of sport.

13th – 1st January: PDC World Championship Darts

Fallon Sherrock celebrates winning to go into the 3rd round in 2019.

Expect an electric atmosphere at Ally Pally as the world’s best darts players step up to the oche for the sport’s showpiece event. Peter Wright finally broke his duck in 2019 as the Scotsman finally secured his first world title after over a decade on the tour.

Liverpool conquered the world in 2019 – who wins in Qatar in 2020?

Liverpool were left on top of the world last December as an extra-time goal from Roberto Firmino saw the club seal their maiden Club World Cup in Qatar. The tournament returns to the country for a second year in succession with seven teams from all areas of the globe expected to take part.

26th:  Boxing Day football

Boxing Day…. the most wonderful time of the year in the Premier League.

It’s the day every fan looks forward to at the start of the season as the Premier League and EFL serves up a full slate of festive football. Liverpool’s title dreams were given a huge boost on Boxing Day 2019 as they brushed chasers Leicester aside 4-0 at the King Power Stadium.

26th: King George VI Chase, Kempton Park

Clan Des Obeaux – the king of Kempton

Boxing Day brings one of the most eagerly-awaited race meetings of the winter as the King George lights up Kempton Park. Some of the biggest names in racing have scooped this one, including Desert Orchid, Kauto Star and Best Mate. Clan Des Obeaux became a two-time champion in 2019.

26th – 30th: South Africa vs England 1st Test

27th: Welsh Grand National, Chepstow

Ben Stokes – SPOTY champion once again?

The BBC brings the curtain down on a blockbuster year of sport in December as the winner of the 2020 Sports Personality of the year Award is crowned in a star-studded ceremony. Ben Stokes’ Cricket World Cup heroics helped the England all-rounder seal the award in 2019. It’s an Olympics year and history suggests Team GB’s star performers will be vying for the title after their exploits in Tokyo.
