Paris St Germain vs Liverpool
The game of the evening comes at the Parc des Princes as Liverpool take on a PSG side bolstered by the return of Neymar and Kylian Mbappé from injury. In the reverse fixture between these sides, Liverpool raced into a 2-0 lead before letting the French champions back into the game, with the Reds eventually sealing a nervy 3-2 win courtesy of a late Roberto Firmino goal. Liverpool know a win here and a Napoli victory will be enough to see them through – will they start on the front foot again to halt PSG’s Champions League ambitions for another season?
Tottenham Hotspur vs Inter Milan
It’s ‘do-or-die’ time for Spurs as their Champions League hopes come down to one game at Wembley. Only a win will do for Mauricio Pochettino but they will have a spring in their step after brushing Chelsea aside over the weekend. Spurs have had a problem with starting games too slowly in the Champions League so far this season – will that be focusing minds ahead of tonight’s crucial game? Back Spurs to change the script and set the tempo early in this one.
Napoli vs Crvena Zvezda
Crvena Zvezda (Red Star) produced arguably the shock of the group stages as a cauldron of noise at Rajko Mitić Stadium helped the Serbian side see off last year’s Champions League runners-up Liverpool 2-0 in Belgrade. That result has handed Red Star an unexpected lifeline in this year’s ‘Group of Death’ but Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti will be desperate to ensure his side don’t concede top spot and set up an all-or-nothing shoot out against Liverpool at Anfield in the final round of games. Red Star’s previous away performances should give Napoli hope.
PSV Eindhoven vs Barcelona
PSV have made a decent fist of a very tough group, but welcome Barcelona to the Philips Stadion knowing their Champions League journey is all but over for another season after a late Harry Kane double robbed them of a memorable victory at Wembley last time around. For Barca, victory here would all but wrap up the group – and a big performance could help revitalise their season after a low-key couple of weeks for Ernesto Valverde’s side in La Liga.
Porto vs Schalke 04
Finally, a look at the two sides leading arguably the most open group in the competition, Group D. Both these sides are unbeaten so far, with Porto just edging out their opponents courtesy of two wins against group whipping boys Lokomotiv Moscow. Despite remaining undefeated, Schalke have struggled to find their goalscoring form in the Champions League so far this season, so expect this to be a closely-fought contest with both sides edging closer towards confirming their places in the knockout stages.
