Weekend Betting Tips – Acca Tips & Racing Picks
With a slimmed-down fixture list in the Premier League, our suggested weekend acca takes a trip into the EFL this week, starting with an in-form Cardiff City…
CARDIFF CITY VS WIGAN ATHLETIC
One of the heavy promotion favourites before a ball was kicked in August, could Cardiff finally be living up to their pre-season billing?
Eyebrows were raised in some quarters at Neil Harris’ appointment back in November, but the former Millwall man looks to finally be getting a consistent tune out of his underachieving squad, with the Bluebirds now within touching distance of the play-offs.
Wigan’s form has improved in recent weeks, but two away wins all season tells its own story. That should see Cardiff’s recent upturn in form roll on in South Wales.
PRESTON NORTH END VS MILLWALL
Quietly but effectively, Alex Neil’s Preston continue to punch above their weight into the promotion mix from the Championship. The Lilywhites looked like falling out of contention after a disappointing end to 2019 but have bounced back in style since mid-January winning four out of five games.
Millwall’s momentum under Gary Rowett has stalled in recent weeks with the Lions now winless in four. That run could continue at Deepdale.
SOUTHEND UTD VS COVENTRY CITY
It’s been a season to forget for beleaguered Southend Utd. 13 points adrift of safety after just three wins all season, in truth a second miracle great escape act in succession has never looked likely for Sol Campbell as he continues his difficult rebuilding job at Roots Hall.
That gives promotion-chasing Coventry the chance to finally break into the automatic promotion spots after an unbeaten start to 2020 which has seen them win five out of their last seven games.
PORT VALE VS COLCHESTER UTD
The race for the play-offs looks like it could be heading all the way to the final day, with five teams between 5th and 9th separated by just a point. The teams at either end of that spectrum meet at Vale Park on Saturday, with the home side emerging as surprise play-off contenders in recent weeks after three wins in four games.
Colchester have blown hot and cold in recent games, beating promotion rivals Plymouth 3-0 last weekend before slipping up at home to Grimsby in midweek. Vale have lost just one game at home all season and that could see them leapfrog their rivals this weekend.
STEVENAGE VS SALFORD CITY
It’s been a season of consolidation for Salford City in the EFL after their remarkable rise through the non-league ranks. With a 10-point gap to make up, a late play-off charge looks a stretch for the Ammies.
All three points against rock-bottom Stevenage might just keep their faint hopes alive and that looks a realistic target at a side that have lost five on the bounce.
Odds correct as of 10:00 GMT 14/02/2020 but may be subject to change.

Saturday’s Horse Racing Tips
13:50 @ Ascot – Pym
Pym has been in impressive form this season with the RSA looking the prime target if he wins this well. He had a nice seasonal reappearance at Huntingdon before victories at Ascot and Cheltenham and could make it three wins in a row here.
14.05 @ Haydock – The Worlds End
Stayed on really well to win the Long Walk in December and could be operating in similar conditions on Saturday. He won at Haydock in 2017 before an unsuccessful tilt at the Albert Bartlett, but he could prove to be Paisley Park’s toughest challenge come the middle of March.
14:35 @ Lingfield – Kachy
Kachy’s All-Weather record is stunning. Six runs, five wins and one second place. He is carrying plenty of weight but his class and more importantly his speed out of the gates should see him record another AW win.
