UEFA Champions League Final – 5 Things We’ve Learned So Far…

We could be in for a cracker…

With an astonishing 20 goals across the semi-finals, this is a season where defensive discipline has gone out the window. Both Liverpool and Real have plenty of vulnerabilities at the back – could an all-time classic final be on the cards? We know the Reds love a 3-3…

Liverpool need to manage their tempo…

The Reds have consistently shown a tendency in Europe to go out all guns blazing, leaving little in the tank for the final 20 minutes where mistakes can be fatal. Whilst they will be keen to blitz Real from the get-go, they will need to box clever in the final.

Real are not the force they once were….

Viewed in isolation, two legged victories against PSG, Juventus, and Bayern to reach the final looks hugely impressive. Zinedine Zidane’s side have had lady luck shining on them throughout this competition, however, and they are unlikely to have faced a side as cavalier as Liverpool yet this season. Will that unsettle them?

But they are the masters of big game moments…

On the other hand, you could argue Real Madrid always find a way. It’s not always pretty, it’s not always particularly in keeping with the spirit of the game, but they can and will root out a path to victory any which way they can. And let’s not forget they always have a certain Portuguese talisman to call upon if they find themselves in a tight spot.

Inexperience could cost Klopp’s men…

It’s hard to fault any of Liverpool’s players on their fantastically unexpected run to the final, but a few of the younger members of Klopp’s side will have given the German cause for concern, with both Karius and Alexander-Arnold looking as if they were feeling the pressure in the Stadio Olimpico.

Can they step-up one last time in Kiev?
