Today marks a grand occasion for the social media marvel that is Twitter. 10 whole years, an entire decade, live and running.

And to mark their 10th birthday, Twitter have dedicated a hashtag of #LoveTwitter for Twitter users across the world to retweet and rehash their favourite tweets from their Twitter journey to date.

In the last 10 years, footballers have had their fair share of voice on social media, no less on Twitter itself.

Here’s some of our favourite tweets from footballers. Enjoy.

From the master of bizarre tweets himself, Mr Robert Earnshaw with this beautifully articulate simile on war.

Back when Troy Deeney wasn’t guiding Watford to Premier League safety, he was a bit of a roughhouse.

Matthew Etherington displaying his proud English roots. Never forget ’66, Matt!

Dean Windass being classic Dean Windass. Say no more.

Marvin Sordell giving tips on banter… Maybe someone should give him some tips on scoring goals!

Great effort from Giuseppe Rossi here, just didn’t have the right execution. Always tomorrow though.

Another Twitter superstar to round us up. Victor Wanyama. A poet in his own way.

If you have any tweets from footballers you’ve enjoyed, send them over on Twitter or Facebook!
