There’s no room for error in the Champions League as we reach the final round of group games, with both Liverpool and Spurs still fighting to preserve their respective European dreams this evening.
Here are our Champions League betting tips with crunch time approaching…
Barcelona vs Spurs
Spurs kept their faint hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages alive with a dramatic late win over Inter last time around but the challenge gets even harder for Mauricio Pochettino’s side as they bid to become the first English club to win at the Nou Camp since Liverpool in 2007.
Their hopes will surely all depend on the side Barca boss Ernesto Valverde opts to put out – and whether that line-up includes Lionel Messi. The Argentinean ace is showing no signs of his extraordinary talents waning as he continues to break all manner of records at the age of 31. Expect it to be a cagey night for the away side as they try to keep Barca quiet and catch a lucky break.
Liverpool vs Napoli
Jürgen Klopp has an uphill task if he is going to guide his Reds side to a second successive Champions League Final, with Napoli firmly in the box seat to qualify for the knockout stages. Carlo Ancelotti’s charges have the meanest defence in Group C having conceded only four goals going into the final group games. The Reds will need to produce one of their famous European nights for their best shot at avoiding an early exit. Only a 1-0 win or victory by two clear goals will do.
A confidence-boosting 4-0 win over Bournemouth last weekend sets them up nicely for this one – can they get on the front foot early and blow Napoli away as they did to so many other sides in last year’s competition?
Inter vs PSV
A famous win for Spurs in Spain would make the result of this one immaterial, but Inter will know they have a golden chance to reach the knockout stages for the first time since 2011/2012 as they go up against a PSV side with nothing to play for. The Italian side won the reverse fixture 2-1 courtesy of second half goals from Radja Nainggolan and Mauro Icardi. Expect them to wait patiently to pick off their Dutch opponents again this evening as they look to extend their stay in the competition.
Crvena Zvezda vs PSG
The French giants will be hoping for a repeat performance of the last time these two sides met back in October where a Neymar hat-trick set them on their way to a crushing 6-1 victory. Thomas Tuchel’s sides will be looking to banish any lingering doubts about qualifying, but as Liverpool’s experience in Belgrade goes to show, claiming three points at the Rajko Mitić Stadium is by no means a certainty. Nevertheless, with the Serbian outfit having only pride to play for, PSG should glide into the Round of 16 with minimal discomfort.
